Big news! 🎉 LEGO Ventures led our funding round!

Ben Caulfield

Today is the day.

After years of working on Eedi and Diagnostic Questions, publishing 1,000’s of questions used by 100,000s of teachers around the world, we’re excited to announce our first institutional round of investment, led by LEGO Ventures and an incredible group of supportive investors, including formative assessment gurus Dylan Wiliam and Siobhan Leahy and Fraser White, founder of Dulwich College International 🎉.

We’re on a mission to create a happier, smarter world, using clever diagnostics and big data to help facilitate great teaching and learning, inside and outside the classroom, personalised to each child’s ability and needs.  Every day we’re delighted by the teachers who use us, as one wrote:

“Self marking, amazing insights, allows me to build future lessons, great for report writing and parent interviews, so much more to say but origin is on in Australia right now so need to get back to it. You rock Craig!!!” 🤘

Importantly, this investment will finally give us the opportunity we've longed to have and help us move away from research-backed finance that has kept us alive but stifled product development and commercialisation. We’ll continue to develop FREE tools and content that teachers love ❤️ but also turn our attention to what happens outside of the classroom and how we can make a difference there too 🏠.

Eedi Labs has been born to double down on our work with Microsoft Research in Cambridge and the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT). Led by co-founders Simon Woodhead and Craig Barton, we’ll be applying world-leading deep technology to our data to provide richer insights and recommendations to teachers, students and their parents.  Our work with BIT will expand upon evidence that there are a multitude of factors beyond an absence of knowledge that can hold learners back ✅.

I feel immensely lucky to work with who I work with and to support the most important profession in the world, teaching ☺️.  We can’t wait to share our future with you and to help build a happier, smarter world.  If you’re interested in learning more please sign-up to receive our newsletters or join one of our webinars (starting again soon) to see Eedi in action.  If you’d like to join us on our journey, we’re hiring! 👍

Here’s what this means in practice — and why it matters for you and your students.

How Eedi drives meaningful maths gains—in just 10 minutes a week
