September update 🌻

Harriet Walters

Last time we talked in early April we'd raised £3.5M from Lego and we were about to begin our journey into product development and commercialisation. That's exactly what we've been doing 🎉

Firstly though, the world has changed quite a bit since then. We've talked to parents, students and teachers about having to adapt to the difficulties of remote learning and general uncertainty. It can be so overwhelming and we wanted to help, so we launched Eedi Summer School to help close the 'lockdown maths gap' for Year 6 students.

As our Year 6's transitioned into Year 7, we did too. We just released Eedi Family beta, and that brings us to where we are today.

Eedi Summer School finished

Children were handed a big disadvantage this year missing fundamental maths lessons due to schools closing. Eedi Summer School focused on helping Year 6's make a smooth transition into secondary school, taking them through key maths topics they would need to be Year 7 ready.

Over 7 weeks, we invited 850 students to test the Alpha version of Eedi Family. They sent their feedback, we listened and learned to 30+ parents and children through interviews. Our product team worked tirelessly to implement feedback. Your feedback was truly invaluable so thank you to everyone who participated! Plus we saw some super impressive work.

As summer came to an end, Eedi Summer School did too.

We released Eedi Family Beta  🎉

This week, I'm excited to announce the release of Eedi Family Beta! We're working with 20 families and counting and it's so exciting to see this number in increasing by the day.

With our learnings from Eedi Summer school, we're creating a product that helps children build skills and confidence in maths, plus it follows exactly what they are covering in school!

We're still in early development working only with Year 7 students. We'll be expanding the offering to other year groups early next year.

Try it now for free, for 7 days. Then it's £7.99 / month after that if you sign up before this Friday. Cancel anytime.

Our new Mission Statement 💪🏽

New journey, new mission! We sent parents a survey to help us to better understand their concerns about their child's education. You spoke, we listened! So Ben (Co-Founder and CEO) and Martin (Head of Growth) put their heads together to come up with a sparkly new mission statement: to help every child build the skills and confidence to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Read the full statement here. It's worth a read.
